La donna-sfinge

Lying face down on a dark beach towel, this figure gazes back at the viewer, carrying within herself the silent answer to many human existential questions. The setting sun reflects on the calm sea and on the hair of the sphinx-woman. The painting holds the three primary colors: blue, red, and yellow. This work is not merely an enigma; it is my poetic statement on the simple technical means of creating images. No shading, only simple tones (by mixing two colors, no more), tonal shifts to describe volume, and color contrasts guided by the color theory of Johannes Itten.
